The term serial killer is one of the things that make not only a person's mind but also their body and soul to tremble. It refers to a criminal that is primarily known for killing numerous people in a row and the investigations on the other hand show a common characteristic that is shared by most of the victims of a specific killer as well. Records and research show that the serial killers either have psychological disorders or the conditions that are majorly triggered by unhealthy family circumstances. It is also common to note that other serial killers kill impulsively due to the lust for power or sex.
While the identity of many serial killers remains unknown, others hide under the garb of their essential life as well. Most of them only came to public knowledge through the characterisation in popular and famous movies and novels that are watched and read across the globe by different fans. The serial killer named Jack the Ripper's identity, for instance, remains hidden till today even though he was known for killing the commercial sex workers from the White Chapel area in London in the year 1888. Ed Gein is another serial killer whose criminal instincts sends shivers through anyone's body. He would disinter his victim's body and eventually use the body organs for aesthetic purposes in his home as well as for design attires and also make furniture from the skin. It is the brutal murderer that was portrayed in Hannibal Lecter's role in the classic movie known as The Silence of the Lambs. The Zodiac Killer is another serial killer of the 1960s whose significant victims were aged between 16 and 29 years. He was known to leave his scene of a crime with a symbol of a crosshair resemblance even though his identity has not been revealed to date.
Ted Bundy is another serial killer whose name stands out boldly in the history of crime. Most of his target victims were women whom he killed by hammering and strangling after raping them. He was executed on January 24, 1989, through the electric chair.
